Spring Break Trips - Top 5 Packages For 2009

June 16th, 2009
James Edmonds asked:

Spring break trips come in many forms. A quick scour of the internet will uncover short 2-day weekend packages, 4-night vacations, and 7-night packages that begin the day after your last class. We have put together a list of the top 5 spring break packages based on historical data from 2002 to 2008.

Number 5 on the list is Bermuda. A great island destination year after year. Most Bermuda spring break trips found online are for 7-nights. Its a little further than most spring break destinations, so they assume you want to spend more time on the island once you arrive. Price has always been a major issue when Bermuda is offered as a spring break destination. Air/Hotel packages to Bermuda are usually very expensive. Most college spring break students mark it off the list because of the price and sometimes the duration. Many students can’t spend practically their entire spring break vacation (8-days/7-nights) at a resort across the ocean hundreds of miles away. Many have things they must do the weekend before or after their spring break week begins.

Number 4 on the list is Acapulco. This was not considered a spring break hot spot until just a few years ago (2004 to be exact). Most travel agencies did not offer an Acapulco spring break package prior to 2004 because many of the hotels there had a strict “no spring breakers” policy. This ended in 2005 when many of the hotels decided to allow students under 25 to check into their hotels during the month of March. It did, however, share the same problem that plagued most Bermuda spring break packages. The price was just too high and most packages to Acapulco were 7-nights.

Coming in 3rd is the Florida spring break destinations. I’m talking about Panama City, Myrtle Beach, and Daytona. This has been a spring break hot spot for years, well before 2002. Its cheap, you can drive there, and you don’t need a passport. One interesting trend to note is the age demographic from 2002 to 2008 in the Florida spring break destinations. It seems every year the students get younger. The 20 and up college spring break crowd has migrated to the island destinations, while the high school spring break students have moved into Florida for the past few years during spring break. I guess this is good news or bad news depending on who you are.

We are up to number two on the list. Coming in 2nd is Cancun. Yes I know you kept waiting for it and here it is at number two. The king of the spring break dominion has finally fallen into second place due to airfare prices, heavy restrictions imposed by the resorts, and a rise in crime all over Mexico in general. The hotels have seen it all and are not taking it anymore. Every year hundreds of spring break students get kicked out of their hotel room due to spring break mischief. Many also spend a night or two in the local lock up and/or fined hundreds of dollars. Crimes of theft, rape, murder, and kidnapping have been on a steady rise in Mexico since 2000. Most parents and students are aware of these facts and they are steering clear of this spring break destination as a result.

Here we are at number one and the winner is…the Bahamas. The problems that have plagued the other spring break hot spots have caused college spring break students to migrate to the Bahamas. What they found when they got there was a hidden jewel. Spring break cruises from Fort Lauderdale depart daily during March and often include hotel accommodations for 4 to 7 nights. The Bahamas consist of a series of gorgeous islands just a few miles of the coast of Florida. The parents love its proximity, the students love its price. A spring break cruise package is typically under $600 and the hotels welcome college spring break students with open arms. The only downside to this spring break destination is availability. The hotels are seeing more and more students coming to the Bahamas during the month of March and April each year. This is causing a total sell out many months prior to spring break each year. The key to getting a room at the best resorts and space aboard ship is to book a Bahamas package many months in advance.

Spring Break 2009 can be the best ever! We hope this statistical information will help you make it happen.

Top Travel Destinations in Mexico

June 15th, 2009
M Gravlee asked:

Cities like Acapulco, Cancun, Cozumel, and Puerto Vallarta have made many people realize that you can travel to Mexico with little problems or trouble. More importantly, these cities, as well as Los Cabos, Mazatlan, and Veracruz allow for the perfect couples or family retreats during vacation time. When you want to travel to Mexico, Cancun is one of the top destinations. Located on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun provides several lagoons and sand bars, as well as gourmet restaurants, shopping attractions, and several ways to enjoy the ocean. Just 60 miles south of Cancun is the lovely little town of Akumal. It used to be a sleepy little fishing village but it has become a tourist favorite with it’s pristine beaches, laid back atmosphere and fanstic snorkling and diving. Cozumel is another popular place to travel in Mexico. Cozumel is well-known for being the largest island of the Mexican Caribbean. The Palancar Reef and the ocean floor around the island are perfect for divers, skin divers, and cruise ship guests that travel to Mexico for fun and sun. The white sandy beaches of Acapulco are just one of the reasons why millions of people travel to Mexico each year. A sanctuary for the rich and famous, Acapulco is known for the glitz and glamour that it provides. Guadalajara, which is second largest place to travel to in Mexico, is a largely economical and political city. It is also full of beautiful and historic buildings that display the history and culture of Guadalajara. Two of the fastest growing places to travel in Mexico are Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Originally a haven for pirates, Los Cabos each offer a different type of environment for guests to enjoy. Cabo San Lucas has stylish hotels and condos with a number of sport fishing and water sports. San Jose del Cabo, however, is a quieter environment filled with beaches, golf, and shopping galore. Puerto Vallarta has everything that you need when you travel to Mexico. It has multiple restaurant, golf, tennis, mountain biking, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, and everything that you need to do while enjoying your time and travels. Also a popular tourist location, Veracruz is also one of the oldest cities. Activities like the country’s Carnaval, local museums, the open-air markets, and much more provide plenty of things to keep you busy while on your trip. No matter where you go or what you do, when you travel to Mexico you can have as relaxing, active, or cultural experience as you like. You can also visit historic buildings, listen to the music, and enjoy the beauty of any area of Mexico. House for Rent in Akumal Mexico Travel Links Mexico

June 12th, 2009
michael g asked:

I am moving to Acapulco and am bringing my rather large Doberman Pinscher with me. Well due to his size and large carrier he will only fit on a 757 aircraft. I can get that type of aircraft into Mexico City but no 757’s are flying into Acapulco.I need to get me, my dog and luggage from the Mexico City airport and drive to Acapulco. Thought of a taxi and havent ruled it out. Any body have a family/ friend ith a car/truck in either city that wants to make a buck?? Surely someone out there has a friend that could help and make some money and day trip to Acapulco on my dime !!!

A Travel Guide to Mexico

June 10th, 2009
Robert Kokoska asked:

Mexico, a place where even the day of the dead is a hoot. That’s Mexico for you! Mexico, the most vibrant and lively place on planet earth is a perfect assortment of opposing identities. Standing on the pillars of the Mayan Culture, flaunted by tourists as a traveler’s paradise, Mexico abounds in snow capped volcanoes, desert landscapes and ancient ruins. The modern industrialized cities and the old colonial towns give the country a look that’s at once traditional and modern.

The beaches and unique flora and fauna of the place render a charm inexplicable. Enjoy the pleasures showered by this land of romance, a perfect place to bill and coo. Its beauty, that’s sensuous, goes beyond time and age. Hike the hidden wonders in the untamed jungles, stretch out on the lonely beaches, and probe into the ancient Mayan ruins while you are in Mexico.

What ever you do and wherever you go it is pure fun and the experience purely majestic. A rare chance to snorkel with sea lions! Isla Espiritu Santo has it all. It has everything to thrill the water enthusiast. Row the boats and have a look at the whale sharks. San Cristobal, another spectacular place where culture meets cosmopolitan with its unique costumes, beliefs and customs carried over from Mayan culture are sure to take the visitors to realms unknown.

Immerse in bohemian culture, brush up on your Spanish and booze around the lively bars and experience the exotic Mexico. The Copper Canyon, much deeper and larger than the Grand Canyon still remains refreshingly fresh here. Mexico City is the cultural and the political nerve center of Mexico. On one side it’s glamor and excitement while on the flip side Mexico City is one of suffering and disease. A visit to this city is a must to understand the ethos of Mexico.

If Mexican culture haunts you, fail not to visit Guadalajara. Interspersed with fine museums and galleries, this abode of vibrant culture, a lively nightlife and great food is any body’s dream and delight. Isla Cozumel, the best place to dive is the most populous island in Mexico. The Spanish invasion, hurricane and small pox could not ravish the essential beauty of this island.

The foremost resort town of Mexico, the Acapulco should not be overlooked. Here the romantic history of pirates and ships beckons you, the beautiful lagoons and the golden beeches charm you, the nightlife and cliffhangers challenge you. Though the glory in which it once basked has now become an old tale, where Hollywood stars no longer descend to its honey kissed beeches, still it lures you to its bosom by it’s innate charm. Shopping is good here as the malls are abound in local handicrafts, souvenirs, clothing and jewelry.

Puerto Vallarta offers you a chance to play with dolphins and whales. Once a seaside village, Puerto Vallarta has emerged as an international resort of repute. As said in the beginning Mexico is the perfect combination of opposing identities. Unwind here at the picturesque resort and forget the world.

Puerto Escondido - for Surfing, Hiking, Learning, and Living Well

June 8th, 2009
Jonni Good asked:

Puerto Escondio, in Oaxaca, Mexico, sits on one of the most famous surfing beaches in Mexico. This was once a small fishing village even before the Spanish conquest, but it is now home to over 20,000 people. Thousands more visit each year to catch the gigantic waves off Zicatela Beach. Others come for the hiking, surfing, snorkeling, fishing, and learning opportunities - and for the friendly, laid-back atmosphere.

This beautiful town on the Pacific Ocean was occupied long before the Spanish conquest, but it became a prominent port at the beginning of the last century, and became a major tourist attraction and hippie getaway after Federal Highway 200 was built along the coast.

You can reach the city by plane, or drive there from Acapulco, which is 400 km to the northwest along the coast, or from Oaxaco, the state capital, which is 324 km north of Puerto Escondio. A flight will take approximately 45 minutes from Mexico City.

One of the nicest aspects of this town, in addition to the views of the sea and the attractive colonial homes, is the availability of a rich variety of housing and hotels. If you plan to visit the city to see if it’s the perfect place for your retirement, you can stay in a 4-star hotel or rent a rustic cabin, depending on your taste or budget.

The local restaurants serve the traditional Mexican cuisine, but if you want a taste of Europe or North America, you’ll be able to find a restaurant that caters to your needs.

You will be able to see the famous beaches as you walk along the steets in town. Zicatela beach is known throughout the world in surfing communities, because the waves are truly huge. If you don’t surf yourself, you’ll still enjoy watching world-class surfers challenging the waves.

For a calmer, more tranquil experience, visit Main Beach, where you can swim, fish or dive. If you are just learning to surf, this would be the place to get your feet wet before you attempt to tackle the giant waves on Zicatela beach.

For a bit of peace and seclusion, you can visit Playa Bacocho, which runs for almost 30 miles and is often completely deserted. The beach is sandy, and the waves are mild. Or visit Playa Carrizalillo, a perfect spot for swimming or snorkeling because the water is warm and calm.

If you visit the area long enough, you can find several other beaches in the area, where you can go boating, learn to surf or snorkel, or just hang out on the sand. International fishing tournaments are held in the area in February and November, and the waters are known for excellent fishing for sailfish, marlin and tuna. Dolphins and whales also visit the water off Puerto Escondio, and the black coral reefs are home to a variety of smaller, colorful fish.

There are many smaller towns in the area, and anyone interested in traditional Spanish architecture and churches will want to bring a camera. Marketplaces in each village sell the local handicrafts.

If you’re thinking of retiring anywhere in Mexico, you’ll want to know the language. Many Spanish language schools have been set up in Mexico for business travelors, tourists and potential residents. There is a Spanish language school is in Puerto Escondio, that offers much more than just spanish lessons.

If you stay at the Maress Spanish School a while you can learn about the local culture, take some painting or sculpture lessons, learn to cook some Mexican dishes, and even take salsa dancing lessons. Many people combine a few months of classes with a stay in the home of a local family, and totally immerse themselves in the culture of Puerto Escondio. If you decide to do this, contact the school - they will help you make arrangements for your stay.

Going To Mexico Read This First

May 30th, 2009
Daniel Millions asked:

For visitors who plan on traveling to the South American country of Mexico, I will be providing you with detailed, useful information for your journey. The primary airport in Mexico City is the Benito Juarez International commonly called Mexico City International Airport. Landing at the Juan Alvarez International Airport in Acapulco will place you in close proximity to many hotels.

The Las Brisas Acapulco, The Grand Mayan Acapulco Wyndham Resort and the Camino Real Acapulco Diamante are all located in less than a five mile radius from the airport. Since taxis, buses and rental car agencies are all available inside of the airport, you will get there in no time. The airport itself is the largest international airport in Mexico’s Southern-Pacific region.

Acapulco Beaches

The La Bonfil beach is one of the best beaches in Mexico for surfing. Because of the high waves, many surfers flock here to surf. The waves are so high that swimming is actually frowned upon by the locals. Settled between Puerto Marques and Revolcadero Beach, La Bonfilso beach is a safe friendly place to visit. Caleta Beach is one of the most visited beaches located in Acapulco.

Its main attraction is the water itself. Families often come just to swim but the fishing is also excellent here. If you plan on taking a trip to Mexico just for the beach, you may want to consider a hotel reservation at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess. This four star hotel is conveniently located on Revolcadero Beach near the General Juan N Alvarez Airport. Spas, dining and golf are some of the hotel’s prominent highlights. This one of a kind hotel sits on nearly five hundred acres, with over seven hundred and fifty plant species growing.

Cozumel Restaurants

A big draw to Mexico is its authentic Mexican food prepared by the natives. The Costa Brava Restaurant of Cozumel caters traditional Mexican dishes in addition to seafood. Other restaurants include Mi Chabelita, El Moro and El Foco all located in the downtown Cozumel area. It isn’t difficult to get other styles of food in the Cozumel area either. People visiting from different parts of the world will find restaurants that serve the same meals that they are used to eating back home. For instance, Guido’s banquet facilities cater Italian food, while Tony Rome’s restaurant and bar serve up steak and shrimp. Blue Haus located inside of All Riviera Resort has an International menu that caters to everyone.

Los Cabos Mexico

There is quite a bit of entertainment activity to keep you busy year round in Los Cabos. Golfing, horseback riding, sailing, fishing and cruise tours make this one of Mexico’s most sought after destinations. Often referred to as paradise by tourist, Los Cabos warm water beaches stay that way because of the warm humid temperatures there. Summer temperatures normally stay in the mid to upper nineties with very little rain fall during that time. Snorkeling and scuba diving activity there is highly recommended.

Whether you like fun in the sun or rest and relaxation at a spa, traveling to Mexico is the way to go. Nice people, great food and perfect weather all make the trip worthwhile. Visit Cancun, Acapulco, Los Cabos, Cozumel or any of the many cities located in Mexico. Get your plane, hotel and restaurant reservations done and come experience all that Mexico has to offer.
